ASTOUNDING ROMANCE OF THE WAR.
DESERTED BABY PRINCE FOUND IN A DITCH. Prini.fj Yladzis Gedoric, aged two, so.i of Prince Cyril Gedoric, an Austrian nobleman of sentf-royai (mccLiatiseT) r;ink, was lost, and has been found again in most romantic circumstances. Prince Cyril Gedoric is an officer in the Austrian army, and joined h:s regiment in August, 1914, leaving his wife and baby at his castle near Brody. During the first great Austrian retreat the princess fled, and in the general confusion h.'r baby was left leliind and lost. A Russian officer found the m i'r.nt in a ditch some miles from Brody, and sent it to Russia to be cared for. Nc one knew the infant was a princ-o and heir to vast estates, but .< Baroness Natalie Ostroff adopted it, and toof: it her home at Till s, in the Caucausus. Recently the story of the foundling was published in a lluss'-an illustrated p;.per, with a photograph of the child. A Russian prisoner taken by Prince Gedroic's regiment happened to have in I i pockot a copy of this particular issue, and by chance Prince Gedroie wa-> the who examined this prisoner after his capture. Glancing casually over tho paper taken from the Russian's pocket, the prince recognised his lest baby and heir. Diplomatic representation?) through Sweden ensued, and tho little Prince Vladz'.s Gedoric was sent back to Austria under the care of two nurses and •i special courier.
