METHODIST CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.
There were crowded congregations at the Pukekohe Methodist Church on Sunday last, the occasion being the celebration of the thirty-eighth anniversary of the opening of the Church. In consequence of the death of his father, the Rev. E. P. Blamires, who was to have occupied the pulpit at both services, was unable to be present and the Minister of the Church, the Rev. J. B. Suckling, preached in his stead. During the course of the morning service Mr Suckling referred to the loss Mr Blamires had sustained in the death of his parent and at his request the congregation quietly rising showed its sympathy with its former Minister. Both morning and evening sermons were marked by strong evangelical fervour and were listened to with rapt attention, that of the morning being retrospective in character, whilst the evening discourse was an eloquent pleading for fuller consecration, devotion and greater spiritual " exploits " in the future. Solos were rendered at both services. The collections amounted to a little over £B.
