RAMA RAMA.

PATRIOTIC BAZAAR. A sale of work in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund was held in the Rama Rama Hall on Wednesday, October 4tb, and proved a great success, reflecting great credit on the Rama Rama-Tuhimata Ladies' Guild, who were ably assisted by a committee of energetic men. Mr Langford, in a short able speech, declared the sale open, after which the National Anthem was heartily sung. Thea the stallholders had a busy time, the scene representing the opening of the " cheap sale} " in Queen Street The following were in charge of the different stalls: Plain work—Mesdames F. Ballard, F. Langford, E. Rainford, S. Chilton and Miss Cole-Baker. Fancy—Mesdames P. H. Fox and H. Clarke, Misses M. GKmmins, E. Biddick and N. Ballard. Sweets—Misses C. Langford, L. King and D. Wood. Girls' Stall—Mrs Dufty, assisted by Misses I. Crooks, E. Biddick, E Oldham and F. Ballard. Boys.' Stall-Mrs Dufty. assisted by Masters Ken Pilkingtou, Willie Clark and Willie Biddick. Fish-pond—Miss A. Pulman. Competitions—Misses A. Ballard, M. Kern, E. and M. Allen, H. Fletcher, D. Baker, and W. and M. Russell.

I Tea-rooms—Mesdacues Bildick, 1 Newcoinbe, Eussell, I'ilkington, Misses L. Alexander, J. Johnston, D. Baker, 0. Smith and Willoughby. Shooting Gallery—Mr T. Alexander, assisted by W. Alexander, C. set (guessing) : Mrs G. F. Cox (Hunua). Clock : Mr W. Baker Bird-cage (shooting for boys) : Ray Allen. Weight of cake :Mr C. Smith. Hat trimming : Mr Eicles 1, Mr Peoples 2. Mr P. Jones, of Auckland, at the close of the evening very kindly sold by auction all that was over, which fortunately was very little, not more than a dozen articles being left on the ladies' stalls. Mr Swinbourne, who won the pig put it up for sale again, so that it considerably augmented the clay's takings.

The total amount taken for the afternoon and evening was £ll6 13s Id, which is considered very satisfactory fully repaying th>i ladies who spent so much time and energy on the work. The thanks of the secretaries (Mesdames Sharp and Oldham) are due to the-members of the Guild for their unfailing attendance at the sewing meetings and their untiring energy in the work.

Jn the ktest casualty lists Mr W. Cooper, of Rama Rama, is reported as killed, also Mr Roy Pirie, who left with the Ninth Reinforcements

Messrs D. Russell, R. Giant and M. Mahon proceed to Trentham on October" 17th with the 22nd Reinf oi cements.

The monthly meeting of the Farmers' Union was held on Saturday evening. Owing to the president beirg indisposed, the vicepresident (Mr M. Ballard) occupied the chair. The usual business was gone through, a letter being read re concession of commissions by auctioneers. A resolution was forwarded to the Provincial Executive thanking them fotf what they had gained and asking them to try and secure a reduction on all class of stock as at present the reduction was only on fat stock at Westfield and therefore was only on fat stock sold at Westlield and therefore was only beneficial to the grazier. Mr T. Baker will give an address on " Bookkeeping in Easy Method " at the next monthly meeting on November I lth at Rama Rama.
