Mr R Fitness, of Pukekohe, has for the month of August received a cheque for £ll 6s 6a as a return for milk supplied from three cows to the Pukekohe factory—another instance of profitable dairying. Particulars of the entries for the N Z. Loan and M. A. Coy's sales to be held in their Pukekohe Yards on Monday and Tuesday next will be found in our advertising columns Nurse Gibson announces that she has opened a nursing home at her residence in Manukau road, Pukekohe —next to tbe police station—and she will also be available to attend patients at their homes. Attention is di»wn to the competitions promoted in connection with the forthcoming bazaar in aid of the funds of the Pukekohe branch of the Women's Patriotic League, particulars of which are set out in our advertising columns.

After having valuable support to various patriotic funds the Pukekohe Girl Scouts have organised an entertainment to be held in the Premier Hall on Tuesday, the 17th inst, to aid them in their equipment of ambulance appliances. The occasion is one that thoroughly deserves the patronage of local residents. A very instructive and entertaining lecture entitled " The War and the ''Universe " was given in the Premier Hull, Pukekohe, last Tilesday evening by the well-known astronomer, Mr Clement L. Wragge. The discourse was illustrated by magic lantern slides depicting the starry heavens, sun, moon, etc., and at the close an exhibition of radium proved decidedly interesting. Mr Edward Ryan, who has recently been promoted from the staff of trie Pukekohe Post Office to tte Auckland G.P.0., is to be entertained at a social on IhurEday evening next io the Oddfellows' Hall, when a presentation will be made him in recognition of his courteous discharge of duty as telephone exchange clerk. At the sale of sectons held on behalf of Mr M. Hartneady by Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons yesterday on the property in Pukekohe seven out of the 18 lots offered found purchasers as follows: Lot G, Mr T. Watson (Mauku) £130; Lot 7, Mr Moses Koutly, £IOO ; Lot 8, Mr W. McFadden (Patumahoe), £l-10; Lot 15, Mr F. W. Mountjoy, £SO ; Lots 16, 17 and 18, Mr J. Beatty, £BS each.

New potatoes in fjirly large quantities are now being consigned from Pukekohe to southern centres.
