At the Papakura Juvenile Court on Monday four school boys whose ages ranged from sixteen years down, cams before the Magistrate on a charge of having broken insulators, valued at 12s, by throwing stones, and with a further charge of throwing stones arising out of the same incident. A plea of guilty was entered, and the Magistrate gave the boys a reprimand, stating that although there was s» certain amount of temptation to smash the insulators their action might have prevented assistance being obtained by telephone for a sick person. He further reminded them that they were liable to three months' imprisonment, or to be placed iu an Industrial School. Constable Waugh mentioned that one of the party had been given a thrashing by his father, and the Magistrate expressed the hope that the others would be similarly treated. Tfcey were all convicted, and the parents of the boys that appeared to the first charge were ordered to pay 3s each to defray the cost of damage done, and Is 9d each Court costs, while the parents ot the other two were ordered to pay 3s 6d each as their proportion of the Court costs.
