Herbert Kalis, a former Sunday School pupil ot Mr Lupton's, who in a lew well choem rt marks expressfd the regret of the congregation at the retirement cf Mr Lupton from active work in connection with the church. Mr Thomas Bell commented on the tact that for once they were honouring a wurthy nun, while he was alive and could accept their appreciation. Mr B. Moody, of Alfnston, remarked that as a lay reader Mr Lupton has achievid a Dominion record and they could ill afford to lose him. In concluding Mr Mocdy expressed the hope that Mr Lupton would be spared to wear out the chairs presented to bim. Mr Oram, who was for some years associated with Mr Lupton in Sunday School work, said that in five years Mr Lupton bad o ly twice asked him (Mr Oram) to take his duties on Sundayß, and on two occasions bad given up his free Sunday afternoons to repay Mr Oram. In returning thanks, Mr Lupton remarked that in Manurewa the Anglican Church had seen many changes. Services were fceld first in the Bchool; next, by the courtesy of the Wesleiyan Methodist®, in the chappel; later in a barn, and finally in their church.

A dainty supper waß served by ladies ot the congregation, and at the close the National Anthem was sung. THE LATE MR ARCHDALE TAYLEK. The death occurred last Wednesday evening, at bis residence at Manurewa, ot Mr Archdale Tayler, following on a nervous breakdown. Mr Tsyler was born at Weybridge, Surrey, England, and was 61 years ot age. He arrived in New Zealand in 1880 and entered the accountancy profession. He took up residence in Marurewa three or four years ago, and in companv with his wife and family he always exhibited a keen interest in the local Anglican Cburcb and musical matters. It was through the late Mr Tayler's instrumentality trat the musical play, "Trial by Jury," was recently staged by the Manurewa Musical Society, the conductorship of which he had, however, to abandon by reaEon of bis illness. General sympathy for the widow and tamily is expressed throughout tbe district. At the funeral, which took place today, numerous wreaths were rent by local residents as well an a handsome floral emblem from the Manurewa Musical Society.
