(See also Page 1.) DEATH OF Mr J. McGAHAN. The death took place on F.-iday morning last of Mr John McGahan, one of Tuakau's best known and mcst respected residents. Born in County Artqsgb, Ireland, in 1854, deceased as a young man arrived in Auckland, logetbet with his mother, two aisters and a brother. They retided first for a short period at Otabuhu, and then settled in Tuikau where deceased jnned tbe Kail way service and was attached to the Permanent Way staff retiring on superannuation on sth December, 1912, when be was presented with an illuminated address and testimonial by tbe Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants as a mark of appreciation of his services. The late Mr McGahan was married in Pukekobe in 1884. Since retiring from official duties he lad a quiet life, hia health not having been too good, and on Friday be passed peaceably away in the presence of all the members of his family residing at bome.

Deceased's mortal remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery, luakau, last Saturday, the funeral leaving th! housa at two p.m. for St Andrew's Ctfholic Church and thence tor the Cemetery, followed by one of the longest corteges seen in the district, friends from far and near attending. Both at the Church, at which deceased was a regular attendant, aod at the graveside, the Kev. Father O'Hara officiate!!, delivering a very touching oration in the church on the righteous life deceased bad led, and pointing out bow well prepared fee was to meet bis Creator.

Craig to correct a rumour that has gained curreucy to the effect that be intends (o become a supplier to the New Zealand Dairy Association's local creamery depot He is already a supplier to the Waikato Co-op. Dairy Co.'a butter factory at Mercer, and is quite satisfied with that ioslitotion.
