SIRES AT THE STUD.
New stud advertisements, appearing in our column 3, will interest horse-breeders, the animals all being fine types of their respective breeds.
HEATHEE BRAF. The Clydesdale entire, Heather Brae, has recently been purchased from Mr J. S. Malcolm, of Cambridge, by Mr W. T. Gleeson, of Waipipi, and will travel the Waiuku, Otaua, Aka Aka and Tukekohe districts. Heather Brae is a six-year-old, and is regarded by competent judges as one of the finest Clydesdale horses that has ever been located in the Lower Waikato. His show-ring record is brilliant. As a two-year-old he was only shown twice. At Hawera he was first in his class and first for the best walking horse, also gaining the reserve championship. At New Plymouth he was first and champion. The following year he was first and champion at Auckland, Hamilton and Cambridge. As a four-year-old he was reserve champion at Auckland, secoud at Pukekohe and first and champion at Cambridge. Last year ho only once entered the ring, viz., at Hamilton, when he was first and champion. He is by Royal Crown—Jess, and stands 17.1 hands. He moves with a dash and freedom seldom seen in a draught horse, and for size, quality, action and general appearance will be hard to beat anywhere. He is also of a, most docile disposition. Mn. HOSKING'S STUD.
Mr C. J. Hosking, the proprietor of the Fernleigh Stud Farm, Waiuku, has Master Soult (thoroughbred), Young Drover (trotter) and Prince Elgin (Clydesdale) at the disposal of breeders. Mister Soult has earned such a name for himself on the turf, in tho show ring and as a sire that reference to his virtues is unnecessary. Young Drover showed great speed when appearing on the trotting track and he is a very tine well-built horse, full of quality and a good mover. His young stock are all doing well in the show-ring, one of them, Field Marshall (late Rainbow), having last year won eleven tirst prizes and two championships. Prince Elgin is a six-year-old Clydesdale by Laird of Elgin—Princess, both champions of the showring. At Auckland as a yearling and as a two-year-old he was first on each occasion. Standing 17
hands high he is powerfully built, a very free mover, of sound, clean bone, and his stock are decidedly promising.
