WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.

Pukekohe Branch. —- A meeting of the Pukekohe branch of the Women's Patriotic League was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Wednesday last. Present: Miss Webster, in the chair, Mesdames O'Connor, Webb, McRae, Hozan, Baxter, Misses Graham and Usher. Accounts to the amount of £11 19s 3 1/2d were passed for payment Resignations were received from Miss O'Connor as secretary and from Miss Townson, as a member of the Executive and the Entertainment Committee. General regret was expressed by the members present at the great loss the League would sustain through the resignations of two of their best workers, and the same were accepted with deep feelings of regret. A letter was read from the Mayoress of Auckland acknowledging the receipt of nine shirts, five surgical shirts, twelve eye bandages, one pair slippers, seventy-three caps, fourteen cholera belts, twenty-nine scarves, twenty-eight pairs socks and six pairs mittens. A letter was read from the secretary to the Consul of Belgium requesting the League's assistance in collecting eggs during the second week in October, the same to be packed and forwarded to Auckland and stored there till Eister week, when eggs are dear, then sold, the money to be devoted to whatever Belgian work may have the most urgent claim at the time.—The matter was left in the hands of the Entertainment Committee to deal with.

Mrs Baxter was proposed to fill the vacancy of bon. secretary, and as no further nominations were forthcoming she was duly elected to the position.

Miss Ivy Adams' name was added to the members' list.

The chairwoman reported having received for September month 286 Dominion Gifts. Miss Usher, convenor of the Sew-

ing Committee, reported that the committee had met and decided to cut and make up several articles to be sold at the coming bazaar. She also reported having made and despatched to Auckland the monthly batch of 50 hussifs, 14 shirts and one pair of slippers donated by convenor. Workers of shirts were Mrs R. W. S. Moore, Miss Fausett, Mrs W. T. Jones, Miss Usher, two each; Mrs H. Keith. Mrs Barker, Mrs Mee, Miss Webster, Miss Brown and Mrs Wake, one each. Mrs Webb, convenor Entertainment Committee, reported the takings on market days, (one and a-half) £26 less 10s for advertising; the balance was paid to Miss Webster to add to the general fund.

Mrs Baxter, convenor of the Kniting Committee, reported having packed and potted two large parcels of knitted comforts to the Mayoress of Auckland and applied to the Executive Committee for a larger sum of money tor purchasing wool for next month. The sum of £10 3s was granted Mrs Baxter to buy wool to the best advantage. Mrs Baxter further reported having receved a donation from Mrs Glover, of Puni, of one pair of socks and one pair mittens.
