Recruits to Fill Gaps.
A scheme has b:en approved by headquarterp, Wellington, to relieve the non-commisswied officers and men of the field section of the Hoya! New Zeahnd Artilicry, permanent stifF, remaining in the Domn ion, and thus etiabli tbcm to join th 3 Expeditionary Force for service abroad.
Under this scheme men may be erslisleJ in the Royal New Zealand Artill-rry for the p riod their servic s will be required during the absecce ot the ExpeiiitiMmy Foe?, and may be recruited from:—(a) Men at pres.nt doing duty in iraioing camps who are unfit foe active servi « but til for home service, (b) Men wt-o have enlist :d but bave been rejjete] as unfit lor active service but lit , for home setvice. (c) Returned soldiers who arc unfit for further active service but lit tor home service. It is intended in all cases to select men who have had previous training with Field Artillery.
In* order to carry this scheme int) operation it ?ill be nec-csary to erlist about 50 men, and it is propose-) that these shall Le drawn trom all district;. The adjutant of the Fi lj Artillery Biigade has heen appointed recruiting officer. Only reliable men will be recommended, and after selection they will te put through a cjune of training at (he Field Artillery Depot, Wellington, before they are distributed to the various district cadris. Fay will te at Expeditionary Force rates, with free rations and issue of equipment and uniform. Particulars can be obtained at the Defer.ca Office. Hamilton or Auckland.
