The adoption of tbe report and balaoce-abeet waa moved by Mr Pacey, whose remarks appear on page 4.—ln <econdiog the adoption, Mr W. C. Motion said that nut? withstanding tbe very dry seasoa there had been a vary large increase of tbe Company's business. It was gratifying to shareholders to know this, and also that the Company's producing staff had so interested themselves in their work that tbe large number of trophies exhibited in tbe hall that day bad been secured as a result of their consistent efforts to turn out only a butter of the highest quality. Mr Saulbcry, Ngaruawshia, in suprorting the motion, congratulated tbe Association opon the excellent year. Tbe speaker suggested that in future tbe balance sheet should bi so complied that tbe wages, tees and commissions wonld be shown as separate items, He also cocsidered that tbe ward system of representation on tbe directorate would be more satisfactory than the present one. Mr Paterson, Ngaruawaha, thought a little more than mere congratulations should be given to the manufsctotisg staff. He suggested that a bonus should be paid them. Mr G. P. £»ing, Wbangarata, supported tbe suggestion of a bocu», and said It was a eourca of congratulation to tbe Asociation to know that tbe business had grown to such an extent that next year it was expected to exceed a turnover of over £1,000,000. Tee speaker commented, in passing, upon the fact that the present waa the first annual meeting at which the name of Mr Wesley Spragg bad not bten cmnected with the Association. They must not forget, however, that it was largely due to tbe efforts of the latter gentleman that tbe present satisfactory position of tbe Association wai doe. Mr Ewing favoured the principle of amalgamation, which, he said, would reduce the co«t ot production considerably. Mr Maisey, Matamata, dechred against amalagmation, as he considered that whil; tbete were some points ii its favour tbe bulk were against it. Be thoaght it likely that a good deal would be saved by doing away with overlapping, but there was no guarantee of adhesion of tbe companies to amalgamated, while nothing wool I keep out dried milk. With amabgtnation there would be considerable additional expenses in the way of high salaries. A tort of agent-general or high commissioner and staff woull b3 appoiated, and these would have to he well paid. Mr Pacey, in reply, said tbe directors had, after consultation with other dairying companies, made provision for a ten per cent bonus to dairy workers. He was very gratified that tbe matter bad come before tbe meeting in the way it bad, as it showed that the shareholders held sympathy with tbe workers of the Association. Referiing to the remarks upon amalgamation, Mr Pacey siij tbe directors would not enter upon any scheme of merging with other companies without first consulting tbe sbarebolders. Mr Barriball, referring to the puolisbed statements ot Mr Henry, bis opponent for the Lower Waikato seat on the directorate, made tbe point clear that be (Mr Barriball) watt a supplier to tbe Association.
