PUKEKAWA.
A farewell, in the form of a dance, was tendered to Mr and Mrs E. P. Tapper, who are leaving the district to reside in Whakatane. A large gathering assembled for the function and during the evening Mr Geo. Morrison referred to the loss the district would sustain in Mr and Mrs Tapper's departure. Mr Tapper, ho said, had faithfully represented the district on the Raglan County Council. Mr Tapper suitably responded on his own and Mrs Tapper's behalf. The music was suppliol by Mr Clarke senr., (piano) and Messrs D. Campbell and Clark jnr. (violins), while the duties of M.C. were carried out in an efficient manner by Mr Drake Musical items were rendered by Messrs Drake and Archer and Mrs Clarke, the accompaniments being provided by Miss Wickers. Mr Malcolm McDougall enters camp to-day as a member of the 20th Reinforcement.-!. THE COUNTY COUNCIL VACANCY. For Un> vacant seat on the Raglan County Council (Pukekawa Riding), created by the resignation of Mr E. P. Tapper, two nominations have been received, the rival candidates being Mr E. S. Eyre and Mr C. M. Morrison. Voting will take place on Friday next between the hours of "J a.m. and (i p.m., the polling booths being at the l'ukekawa post oliico and at the County OHice at Ngsruawahia.
