The sombre sky and tlio drzzling rain intensities.! the solemnity of the occasion. The mi!'. l route, between tic: naval hospital and lhi< i|iiiet country churcn\sird overlooking the sea was lined wit 1 ' sympathetic townspeople. The coff:n« covered wi'th a wealth of flowers, we"conveyed in livnrscs and lorries, and behind ihem in profession walked nun dreds of hluejackets. The funeral music was furnished by a, naval hand and members of a battalion .stationed ; n the vicinity. The internment took place in a number ■ I graves in the part of the cemetery reserved for the navy. Clergymen of the various denominations performed the last Utes of the ceremony, which concluded with the sounding of the Last Post. .Many representatives of the Higher Naval Command were in attendance.
