TE KUAWHATA.
Another effort to assist patriotic matters, viz., a plain and fancy dress ball held in Mr W. Hewitt's Hall on Friday evening last, proved a huge success, all the surrounding districts being well represented. The first prize for the best lady's costume was awarded to Mrs Potter, of Rangiriri, who represented " England and France," while Mr C. Carter, of Waerenga, as a " Cowboy " annexed the trophy for the be6t gent's costume. Both prizes were donated by the Social Club under whose auspices the proceedings were held.
