FRANKLIN A. AND P. SOCIETY.

A meeting of tho General Committee of the above Society was held in tbe Pukekohe Borough Council Chambers last Friday evening, when there were present:—Messrs C. K. Lawrie (president), D. K. Hamilton, J. Wylie. A. P. Daysh, J. H. Webb, J. Eoulston, F. Perkins and the secretary (Mr J. M. Baxter).

The matter of the best means of disposing of the sections on the old showground was considered, the President suggesting that a " neutral " land agent, or valuer, from outside the district should be eugaged to value the sections in conference with a sub-committee, the property then to be submitted to auction.— After tho subject had been thoroughly ventilated, Mr Hamilton proposed, and Mr Webb seconded, and it was carried, that the President and Messrs J. The Auckland Racing Club forwarded notification of a decision arrived at to renew their usual donation to the Society. The Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, Prinio Minister, wrote stating that he would be glad to give considerato the Society's request that A. and P. Societies should be exempted from payment of local rates when the matter comes before Parliament.
