PUKEKOHE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

The annual meeting of the above organisation was held in the " limes " Office on Monday last, Mr R. F. Webster presiding over a representative attendance. The Hon. Secretary (Mr B H Andrew) presented the balance sheet showing a balance in hand of £-1 9s 'Jd.

The following new members wer elected, viz, Messrs C K. Lawrie T. B. Hurley, I. A. Motion, H. G. Lysnar, J. T. Steuibridge, 0. Heerdogen, 0. Roadley and W. Wright. Officers wore appointed as fol# lows:—President,. Mr H. Dell; vicepresidents, Messrs F. Perkins and R. F. Webster : secretary and treasurer, Mr B. H. Andrew; Council : Messrs C. R. Lusher, J. T. Stembridge, J. P. Asher. J. Coady, C. K. Lawrie and C. Roadley; auditor, Mr J. Pilklngton.

Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring president (Mr Webster) and to the secretary for their services in the past year, and also to the " Times " Company for allowing the use of their office for meetings.

Acknowledgment was ordered to 1 be recorded on the minutes of assistance rendered the Chamber by the Postmaster (Mr W. Coster) and the Stationmaster (Mr F. Brown).

An alteration of rule was approved of whereby the Chambor is in future empowered to deal with muuicipal matters but uot to take part in local elections. A deputation was appointed to wait on the Minister of Railways to renew the request for the Main Trunk express traiua to stop at Pukekohe.

Mr Jleerdegan brought forward the matter of the unsatisfactory goods service between Auckland and l'ukekohe, particularly for perishable goods, and the deputation that is to wait on the Minister of Ivailways was instructed to bring tho same under his notice.

On tho suggestion of Mr G. Koadley, it was decide d to ask the Stationmaster if arrangements could be made to notify business men by telephone of the arrival of goods in order to avoid existing delays of delivery.

The" I'rieo of Broad " in Pukekohe was discussed in connection with the Board of Trade's recent report on the subject and Messrs Wekster and S'embridge were appointed as a sub-committee to present a report on tho matter at the next meeting. It was arranged that a general meeting of members should be held on Thursday of next week to decide as to action to bo taken in regard to tho Borough Council's loan proposals.
