Monthly Meeting. The monthly meeting of the Manukau County Council, held in Auckland on Tuesday lai»t, was attended by Crs H. R. Mcblenzio .chairman , A. Muir, J C Bryant, J. Pearson, A. K. The urgent necessity of repairing the road leading from Brown's road to White's scoria pit was placed before the Council in a communication from the Manurewa Road Board.— On the motion of Cr Muir, it was decided to suggest to the Road Board that representatives of the local bodies concerned should meet on the road with a view to arranging the contributions each should pay to- i wards having the road metalled. A COMPLAINT. Mr P. S. Gee, Clevedon, again complained to the Buaid of water lying at the right-of-way leading into his yard.—Cr B=.ll said that there was very little fall oa the main road, and that the watertables and culverts thereon required cleaning.—lt was left to Cr Bell and the foreman to see that attention was given the matter. GOVERNMENT GRANTS. Reporting on his rece: t visit to Wellington on the Council's b-.half, The chairman said that in an interview with the Minister for Puolie Works he was ir.formed that there was no rroney available for new Public Works, but that there was £IO,OOO set down tor maintenance. Tbe Minister, however, agreed to allow unexpended grants for tbe bridges to be transferred to other bridges. FOREMAN'S REPORT. The foreman repotted that the Great South road was consiitrably damaged during tbe recent weather but repairs were eifected by the surfaceman despite a shortage of metal. The work for which Mr P. A. Nield offered a subsidy for an entrance to bis property, would be attended tn when tbe metal was available, while tbe request fit an entrance to bis property at Brookby, madj by Mr A. Collins, was being fulfilled, although metalling woulJ have to remain over until the weather cleared. Necessary eurface-wo:k at tbe Whittord buundary bad been attended to. The roads in the Wairoa riding were in fairly gcod state of repair, and patching work en the Main ard Ness Vall=y roads has been clfccted, whih improvements to the approach to McNicull's bridge had been attended tc. The wateitables ard culverts at the entrance to Mr Aitchesou's gate bad been cleaned out. Speculations prepared for further earthwork to be executed on the Orere Valley road had heen signed by the contractor, Mr J. Paton. —The report wa3 adopted.
