BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTION.
Mr Barriball Defeated.
The result of the election of members to serve ou the Auckland Board of Education was declared yesterday. For the Western Ward, Mr C. T. Barriball, of Waiuku, who was one of the retiring members, failed to secure re-election being displaced by Mr J. Boddio, of Te Kuiti, Mr W. Auld, of Hamilton, the other retiring member, heading the poll. The voting makes it evident that School Committee members at the southern end of the constituency voted solidly for their two local candidates instead of recognising the claims of the Lower Waikato for a part share in the representation. The figures were: Elected—W. Auld 312 votes, J. Boddie 302. Unsuccessful Barriball 181), Howes (Point Chevalier) 12. For the Eastern Ward Messrs E. C. Banks and A. Buru3 were reelected with 420 and 386 votes respectively as against Mr J. C. Dromgool (unsuccessful) 174 votes.
