FAREWELL GATHERING.
A very pl.asant and enjoyable evening was spent in the Oddtell iws' Hall, Pukekohe, on Tuesdiy, when the employee of the Pukekohe Batter Factory met to do bo-iour to two of their number who are severing Ihsir connection with the factory. A good programme was provided, and the items rendered by Mr Gribblc were especially appreciated. The ladies also who had charge of the supper arrangement" handled their department to the satisfaction of all concerned. The chair was taken by Mr W. Y. Kirkman.
During an interval, Mr J. Brown, sear., on behalf of the Pukekohe Btalf, presented ti Mr and Mra Blake a handsome tea servic?, and expressed the wish that th 3 appointment of Mr Blaka to the position as manager of the Clavedon Butter Factory woald pro»e a step-stepping-stone to further advancement. He remarked that Mr Blake had served the Dairy Association faithfully and well, and on leaving carried with him the guod wishes fur his future weliare of all friends at Pukekohe.
Mr Ku9S3!I, speaking to the presentation, said that promotion from among the Pukekohe staff was good, in that opportunity for advancement was opened to tboee who bad legitimate anrbitions, and had fitted themselves for promotion. Mr Blake, in replying, thanked the dtaff for tb2 kindly expression of good-will aod and esteeui. The fifteen years at Pukekohe factor; had, he said, brought many changes, and. to him much that was plsasant. He hai satisfaction of knowing that he bad done hii best, and would apply the same energy aod application to the business at Clevedon.
La'., r a presentation of a pipe in case was made to Mr V. Morris, who has joined the reinforcements and goes into camp at an early date. Mr Nielsen made the presentation, and appropriately expressed the kindly feeling which existed towards the recipient. He hoped that the pips would bring back pleasant memories of Mr Morris' time at Pukekohe factory. Mr Morris reaponded in a neat speech, thanking his friends tor this tangible expte sion of esteem and regard.
The announcement was made that Mr J. Brown, junr., would receive promotion and would take up the duties of bultermaker and first assistant at Pukekohe.
