Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons advertise in this issue particulars of special entries for their sale of dairy cattle to be held at Pukekohe on Saturday of next week Mr Wm. Roulstou, in a replace advt. in this issue, announces that a sale of drapery, mercery, clothing, boots and shoe?, commences at his establishment in Pukekohe on Wednesday next.

Mr W. Wright, jeweller, of Pukekohe, has received advice that his brother-in-law, Pte. Ernest Bellingham, was wounded in action in France on the 4th inst Pte. Bellingham was formerly a resident of Pukekohe.

A few lambs are already to be seen on Mr Jas. Houston's farm at Pukekohe. These early arrivals evidently appreciate the mildness of tie season and are thriving to advantage in the genial weather that is being recorded The picture entertainment given at the Premier Hall on Wednesday evening in aid of the funds of the Pukekohe Fire Brigade was well patronised and the Brigade accordingly received a much welcome addition of some £8 or £9 to their finances.

Three rinks of Pukekohe bowlers visited Onehunga on Wednesday and played against the Onehunga Bowling CI lb, L'ukekobe winning two rinks out of three with a total of 01 points to 55. The sum of £3OO was included as a new vote in the Public Works Estimates presented to Parliament on Tuesday for the Department of Agriculture's farm at Te Kauwhata, and last year's unexpended votes revoted include £IOO for the Buckland post office and £7OO for the Manuiewa post office.

The Public Works' Statement presented to Parliament on Tuesday by the Hon. W. writer was being found by the Education Department and that the Committee had made themselves responsible for £8 ss, half the coat of another, whilst additional ones would also be required bavmg regard to the number of intending pupils forthcoming. The Council agreed to contribute £8 5s in respect of half-co?t ot a machine, Cr Barter suggesting tbat possibly tbeir action would be an example that tha County Council would follow.

A somewhat curious development in regard to tee line of road that constitute! the northern end of E: inburgb stieet was revealed at the meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council en Wednesday evening as the outcome of a leit.r received from the Mother superior of tha Pukekohe Convent, calling attention to the state of the footpath on the western side of the road from Blake's Corner to the Convent. The Foreman of Work*, Mr S. Clews, explained that the footpath in existence bad recently bten taken into Mr W. Blake's property as the result of a Transfer Land Office survey, and that now p.ojjle had to walk in the water channel. The Town Clerk, Mr J. F. Ueaiie, mentioned that the point was previously dealt with by tbe late Council, when it was found tbat Mr Blake was entitled to put his fsnce out to include the footpath and tbat the road should have been defined so as to include a certain width fenced in on the other side of the road. The matter was referred to tbe Works Committee, who were empowered to construct a new tootpath if lound necessary.
