Messrs Alfred Buckland & Sons report as follows: At our weekly Westlield fat stock market on Wednesday our supply of beef totalled 326 head, comprising 165 steers, 150 cows and heifers and two bulls. Competition was steady throughout, with little or no alteration from last report. Choice ox sold to £2 6s, prime £2 3s to £2 ss, ordinary £ I 19s to £2 Is; cows and heifer?, £1 17s to £2 3s; steers ranged in price from £ll to £l*J 17s 6d ; c >ws and heifers, £7 15s to £ls 7s 6d. The highest averages for steers were: Nine from Mr George Nicol, Papatoetoe, £l6 4i 2J; 20 from Mr Campbell Johnstone, Wtitakaruru, £ls 16s 6d; 27 from Mr Geo Riddell, £ls lis 3d; seven from Mr A. Orr, Moninsville, £l7 U; 16 from Mr A. Brett, Kihikitii, £ls 18s Id; niue from Keieone Estate, Morrinsville, £l4 18s Id; eight from Mr Geo. Has tie, Papatoetoe, £ls Is 3d ; and 35 prime cows, £l2 17s 9d. Sheep came forward in average numbers, and included many lots of unfinished sheep. Prime mutton was very firm at fully late quotations. Extra heavy prime, £2 Is 6d to £2 4s 9d (86 from Mr Isaac Gray, Papatoetoe averaged £2 Is 9d); heavy prime wethers, £1 17s 6d to £2; medium to heavy wethers. £1 15s to £1 17s; light aud unfinished, £1 9s 6dto£l 14s 6d ; best prime ewes, £1 14s to £1 16s 6d; good ewes, £1 lis to £1 13s6d; other ewes, £1 5s to £1 10s; heavy woolly hoggets, £1 9s 6d to £1 12s (23 from Mr Sam Hodge, Papatoetoe, made £1 lissd), lighter £l 4s to £1 8s 6d, others 16s 6d to £1 2s 6d (1688 sheep sold). The 90 fat and young calves sold freely at late high values. Hunters made from £6 10s to £8; heavy vealers, £4 to £5 12s, medium £3 to £3 18s, lighter £2 10sto£2 19s, light £2 2s to £2 8s; small and fresh-dropped 5s to £1 18s. Pigs came forward in smaller numbers than usual, and sold freely with a sharp rise in prices No choppers yarded. Heavy bacon ers sold to £4 10s, medium £3 15s to £4 os, light £3 5s to £3 12s; large porkers, £2 16s to £3 3s, smaller £2 8s to £2 158- small £1 18s to £2 ss, slips £1 103 to £1 15s; weaners £1 Is to £1 9s; suckers 3s 6d to 17s 6d (182 sold).

The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report At Waiuku on Saturday we had a large yarding, and practically everything was sold at high prices. Best dairy cows and heifers, £lO 5s to £l6 10s; others, £6 to £9 15s; empty cows and heifers, £5 10s to £7 15s; bulls, £5 5s to £ls 15s; yearling steers, £3 10sto£510s; yearling heiteis, £2 15s to £ i 17s 6d; calves £1 18s to £3 10s; quantity of beef at fully Westlield prices.
