FARMERS' UNION MEETING. A meeting of the Onewhero bra Dcli of the Fanners' Union was held in the Onewhero Hall last Saturdaj' evening. There was a fair attendance of members and a fillip was given to the branch, which has lately, in common with many other branches, fallen upon evil times from lack of concerted support. All present seemed determined to work together fpr the purpose of making the local branch a vital institution for the advancement of their district, realising that farmers must look to their Union for a lead in local politics. Following on the resignation of all officers, Mr E. A. Parsons, who presided, called for nominations for a President for the ensuing year. After several names had In en mentioned Mr Moore was prevaikd on to be nominated, and was unanimously elected. lie thereupon took the chair and strongly urged all present to put their shoulder to the wheel and to make this bianch a really live one by attending all meetings and otherwise by giving their officers their personal support. The following Committee was then elected, viz : Messrs W. Logan (secretary'), E. A. Parsons, R. J. Glasgow, G. Bates, G. Logan and N. Ohlson. Mr Ohlson was warmly congratulated by the meeting on his election to the Provincial Executive and was asked to address the meeting on Farmers' Union matters. His remarks took a very instructive form and were very much appreciated.

Recruiting matters were mentioned and it was decided that the Branch, on behalf of the district, should suitably recognise all volunteors before they left fur the front. At the close of the meeting the chairman moved the following resolution, which was carried with due solemnity : " That this meeting wish to sincerely place on record its deep seuse of loss occasioned by the tragic and untimely death of Lord Kitchener and the glorious death of so many gallant sailors in the North Sea battle." o
