Subsequent to the Town Board meeting jn Tuesday evening of last week a pleasant little function took place in tbe form cf a presentation ?f a valuable pipe, in case, to Mr K. Stewart, proprietor of tbe Tuakau Hotel, who is about to leave tbe district to reside in Hamilton. In banding the gift to Mr Stewart. Mr Dynes Fulton referred to the valuable assistance Mi Stewart had rendered to patriotic work, and the loss the district would sustain in his duparture, as be had proved himself to be a mo ft hospitable host. Several other speakers testified to both Mr and Mib Stewart's good qualities. Mr Stewart, responding on bis own and Mrs Stewart's behalf, 'thanked the company for their good wishes and for the token of esteem he wbs taking away with him. lie assured them that his Blay in Tuakau had been most pleasant, and that it was a privilege to have assisted in tbe patriotic work that was beirg cariied on in the district to Euch great advantage.
