The many friends in this district of the Hon. F. W. Lang, the Speaker of the House of Kepresntative?, will be gratified to find his name in the list of Hirthday Honours, he having been created a Knight Bachelor. The distinction conferred on him will bs a popular one, for both in the House and out of it he has hosts of friends and no enemies. During bis long Parliamentary career, dating, with only one break, from 1893 to the present time, he has been distinguished for sincerity and integrity, an£ also for an unspoilt modesty somewhat rare in politicians.
