ELECTRIC LIGHTING SCHEME.
It is understood that a scheme for municipal installation of electric lighting is receiving careful consideration trom the l J ukekofce Borough Council, and there ere prospects that at a comparatively early date such form of illumination will be in operation in (he business portion of the town. It will be remembered that at tt-e lust
Council meeting a repirt on the subject was presented by Cr Koadlev, whose enquiries led him to believe that the existing machinery at t!i°. Power House could be adapted at little outlay for supplying electric current and idea now is that such plant, at present "resting" each day after the nectary quantity of water hss been pumped to the reservoir, should continue its running for lighting purpose. A promiscuous canvass of the business men of the town shows that ire ns of electric lighting would be largely resorted to and already promises of some 200 "points" have been forthcoming, apart from the facilities afforded for the provision of the illumination of the streets. If
at no expense to the ratepayers, through auftciect revenue t:> more than over cost being secured from conflumers, eleclric lighting could be at its outset provided for a small area it is anticipated that practical demonstration of success and efficiency would soon induce the ratcpyers to accord support to such form of igbting being made feasible for adoption by private residents in all parts oi' the borough.
