PATRIOTIC GIFT APPRECIATED. The following communication has been received by the Mayor of Auckland from Lt. Col. Myres, Officer Commanding the New Zealand Military Hospital, Walton-on-Ihames, England, viz. : Dear Sir, — Your letter of January <"th has just reached me and I must ask you to accept, our deep thanks for your great kindness in sending a Demand Draft value one hundred pounds (£IOO Bank of New Zealand, London) to be expended on the purchase, from time to time, of extra comforts for New Zealand soldiers in this Hospital. 1 note that the amount is a donation from the Onewhero Patriotic Show Committee and was handed to you by Mr J. Bark, the treasurer of the Show Committee. May I ask you to convey to Mr Bark our sincere thanks and you and he may rest assured that the money will be used for such comforts for our patients as would be in their best interests, and which, I am sure, you yourselves would approve of. I only wish it were possible for the numerous ladies and gentlemen in New Zealand, who are good enough to be interested in this Hospital, to see it actually in being. I am sure you would be pleased to see the happiness of the men, and how well cared for they are in every way.—With renewed thanks, believe me to be, yours faithfully, Bkknai;d Mybes, Lt. Col. N.Z.M.C, O.C.N.Z. Military Hospital.
