"Sergeant Poricard, who had taken part in the glorious action of the day before, and was in reserve, gathered together some volunteers of his company and advanced against the enemy. The communication trench was retaken after a prolonged and terrible fight, in the course of which Poricard. feeling his men weakening, and seeing only dead and wounded around him, shouted, 'Ye dead men, stand up.'
