Messrs Alfred Bikkland and Sons report as follows; — At our weekly Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday we penned leef to the number of 517, comprisiDf 184 steers, 328 cows and lieii'ers, and 5 bulls. Competition for steers was not so keen as last week, and values were about lUs lower. Prime cows and heifers were firm, second quality being somewhat neglected. Choice ox sold to £2 3s ; prime £2 Is to £2 2s; ordinary £1 15s to £2; cows and heifers £1 13s to £2; steers ranged in price from £lO 2s (3d to £lB 17s 6d; cows and heifers £-1 12s Gd to £l3 15s. The sheep pens were well Idled. The demand was steady at about last week's values. Extra heavy prime wethers, £1 10s 6sto£l 13s; heavy prime wethers, £1 7s 6d to £1 10s; medium to heavy, £1 5a to £ I Gs9d; light and unfinished, 15s 6d to £1 is; best ewes, £1 5s to £l 9s; good ewes £1 2s (id to £ 1-is; others 12s 3d to £1 Is 6d, 1682 sold;. The 505 lambs, a number of which were unfinished, met with a good demand. Heavy woolly £1 3s to £1 8s; good 17s (id toil 0s 3d; others 8a (id to His 0d; best bhoiu 15s 3d to 17s 6d; good 1 2s to Ms (id; others 7s **> 1 to lis 3d. The 80 fat and young calves sold at a slight advance on last week's values. Pi tinners £1 7s (id to £4 17s (3d ; heavy suckers £3 7s to £ 1 ss; medium £2 15s to £3 ss; light £[ 18s to £2 10s; small and fresh dropped 4s to £1 15s. Pigs were penned in largo numbers, and sold slightly lower than last week's extreme values. We held our usual monthly sale at Pukekohe uu Tuesday last, aud had an extra large jardiugfor this time of the year. There was a good demand. Stores were slightly easier. Beef sold at fully Westlield rates.
