Executive Meeting.

Th 3 monthly meeting of the Executive was held in the Board Room, Albert Street, Auckland on April 13tb, 1916. Present: Mr A A Hoes, chair, Major Lusk. Capt, Colbeck, Messrs J S Montgomerie, H D Duxtield and the actirgsfcretary, W Huey. The minutes (f the last meeting were taken as read and confirmed. Leave of absence was granted to Mr A A Bowler CORRESPONDENCE " A letter was read trom Messrs S V Nevanaa and Co., Limited respecting the handling of released meat in London, and tfce matter was left in the bands of Major Lusk, Breeders' and Graziers' Branch to deal with A letter was received from Morrinsville Bratch respecting the high prices charged fjr benzine. The recretary's reply was approved The Auckland Women's Patriotic League wrote a'king assistancs. The secretary was directed to forward to cur branches any circulars which the League may supply and to notify Miss Speddmg, ths secretary, accordingly The Mauku Branch wrote lorwarding a resolution expressing the opinion that the Government ehoukl institute compulsory service The Kaupo Branch wrote endorsing the Executive's sentiments re recruiting, and urging tne establishment of a receiving camp m Auckland

Correspondents on the subject of the embargo on bides was reviewed and tbe President was asked to write a strong protest to the Ptime Minister pointing out the harm that has been done by the unwarranted interference by the Government with the ordinary channnel9 of trade A letter from the North Canterbury Executive embodying a resolution urging public economy was received

ing tbe necessary legislation whereby Compulsory Military Service can be put into operation whenever the necessity arises That occupiers of National Endowment Lands be granted the option of purchasing the freehold and all be thrown open on those terms es required That Native Lands which benefit trom the expenditure of local rates should be placed on the same tooting as regards seen rates as land held by Europeans That the Bystem of charging extra rail freight on certain cases cf imported goods te abolished That for the purpose of electing members of Harbour Boards tbe c.unties should be grouped separately from the boroughs, each group having equal representation That annual returns of cattle should be made in the same way as the Eheep returns That the allocation for insulated shipping space should be based on the fat stock available in the different districts and not on the freezing space as at present. That the Dominion Executive be asked to make arrangements to obtain copies of ail proposed legislation affecting farmers, and to distribute any information of same to the various Provincial Executives.

That this Conference is 3f opinion that the question ot Auctioneers Commissions should be ssnously considered by farmers, and thatbere is no reason why" such comt missions should rule higher in this Province than in the southern districts, and that some Bteps should be taken to obtain more reasonable ar:d uniform rates
