Monthly Meeting.
The regular monthly mi eting of the above authority was he.! al Clevedon yesterday. Prosoiii - Messrs A. D. 8011, J. Luke H. Walsh, W. Duder, J McConaughtv, together with the clerk, Mr A. E. Bailey.
THE AKDMOKi: PoUNll. The Papakura Valley Road Board notified the Board that their Chairman, Mr E. D MeLell.ui, had been appointed to represent them in regard to tho proposed joint pound at Ardmore.
A letter on the same subjoct was a'so roceived from tho Papakura Town Board pointing out that Mr J. Flauag'in had boon appointed as the Franklin Couaty Council's representative aud suggesting that a meeting of the joint committee should be held.
The Chairman reported that he had called a meeting of the Committee for tomorrow (Wednesday), at Papakura.
APPLICATIONS IOK GRANTS. In view of an early session of Parliament this year the UnderSecretary, Public Work's Department, requested the Board to submit all applications for road grants to the Public Works Department no' later than May loth.
It was resolved t: apply for grants as follows : £oo, £ for £, Chambers Road; £350, £ for £. Brown's Bridge, and to request the Rt. Hon. tho Priuio Minister lMr W. F. Massey) and tho Minister of Public Works to make available a grant of £2.")!), for tho Maetaitai Road, and further to apply for a ro-vote of a £ for £ giant for Cimpbell's Bridge.
PROPOSED DEVIATION AX.NTIXED. Mr Luke reported that iu accordance with the Board's instruction* the Chairman and he interviews 1 Miss Taylor re the proposed deviation through her propoity ou the Otau Road. Miss Taylor objected to the proposal and in view of the heavy expense that would bo incurred in the event of the work being undertaken and as the present grade was suitable they recommended that no action be Jaken in the matter. —Members acquiosced and a resolution was adopted accordingly.
Mixrors weeds. The Chairman roported that as the result of an interview he had had with officers of the Department of Agriculture bo was of the opinion that the noxious weeds on the River Resetve would bo cleared by that Department.
CLEAHINCi A < KEEK. A lengthly discussion ensued in connection with the proposed cleaning of the Black Bridge- creek. Mr Walsh reported that lie had interviewed several of the property owners interested and they wero agreeable to pay for the work being dono on condition that the Board's workmen did it. He believed that the balance of settlers concerned would fall into line so that the work could be un lertaken After the matter had been givon due consideration the Chairman was deputed to obtain legdl advico as to the Mauukau County Council's powers in the matter.
KEI'AIKS NEi ESSAIIY. It was resolved to notify the Franklin County Council of the unsatisfactory condition of the bjuudary bridge, on River Road. Works arranged to be put in hand include the following, viz: The strengthening of Campbell's Bridge, Ness Valley; the clearing of watertables on Dow's Road , the laying of 13 18in. pipes at the culvert on Burnside's Road and repairing wo?k on Patersou's Road.
