The deceased lady, who waß 73 years of age, arrived in the district more than half a cantry The two farms, situated at Kama Kama, the property of tne late Mr J 1 Perry, are to be offered for auction in Auckland on FriOay of next week by Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons, under instructions from the Public Trustee. The quarterly sitting of the Frank lin Licensing Committee was held a the Pukekohe Courthouse on Satur day before Messrs E. Page, S.M (chairman), Wm. Richardson and C K. Lawrie when the transfers of th< licenses of the Papakura Hotel fron Alfred Waterman to Samuel Bygrav and of the Marine Hotel, Howick from J. A. Raynes to A. E. Bennet were granted. The value of the "Pukekohi Times " as an advertising medium i; testified to Mr C. A. Its owner, Master Kenneth MacKay, of l'atu mahce, had tied it up to a verandar post whilst he made some purchases in King street at a fruit shop, and in the few minutes that elapsed during the execution of bis errand the pony, with its saddle and bridle, was missing. As it is possible that the act was perpetrated as a joke, it is requested that the animal should be restored to its owner The Kev W K Poole, of the Methodist Mission, Fiji, is paying a visit to Pukekohe on Thursday. Jn the evening he will speak in the Pukekohe Methodist Church, the subject being, "The Imperial cause of Mission—An Inspiring Survey." Mr Poole has been over twenty years a most successful missionary in the Group, and returns by steamer from Auckland on Monday next. The Ladies' Missionary Guild are providing refreshments at the close of the address, and during the evening some anthems and solos wili be sung. The collection is for the Foreign Mission Fund At a meeting of the executive of the Franklin A and P Society held hst night it was arranged that a deputation should wait on tbe Borough Council to-morrow evening to make application for the exemption from rales of the new showground, the properties ol Agricultural and Pastoral Societies in many other parts of the Dominion being recognised by the local authorities concerned bs entitl d to that privilege.
