PUKEKOHE EAST.
ANNUAL SCHOOL PICNIC The School Committee this year decided that as the children had donated the whole of the money collected in the district for sports prizes, amounting to over £2O, to the local Patriotic Funds, to drive tbem to Papakura Beach for a picnic. The event took place on Saturday last, the parishioners turning out en masse to enjoy the juting. Thanks to tbe ladies a liberal nupply of sandwiches, cakes, etc., was provided, snd was thoroughly appreciated, tbe long drive having sharpened the appetites of all. The weather being very hot and the tide at flood, many ot the grown-up's and children spent the greater part of tbe day in the water. Thanks to the forethought ot members of the committee, who had provided tents and tarpaulins, the shower that came ?n about three o'clock proved of little inconvenience, but rather tended to fresbei the air.
