POKENO.

An amusing incident connected with the doings of Edward Joy, the individual who made an attack on Mr William Pye at the Pokeno railway station lest week, and who has since been located in the Avondale Asylum, comes from a district in tha near vicinity of Mercer. The nihil, while passing through tbe locality on his way to Mercer, obtained work as a paperhacger, in which trade he said he was pruiicient, on a building which was in course of erection on the river bank. The overseer of the work proceeded to another job and left Joy to proceed with the task for which be had been engaged. When he returned Joy was waiting for him at the door and greeted his employer with the following words: ' I think 1 have mcesed the job! Come and have a look." On entering the rcom in company with Joy the overseer gasped in amazement at tbc scene that presented itself. Some of tlia payer.had been fixed running one way and some in another, and even crossways from the top end corner to the lower opposite corner, and the paste had been everywhere liberelly administered. Needless to say the services of the skilled ('.') artisan were summarily dispensed with.
