TUAKAU SOUTH.
The Public School. Tha pupils of the Tuakau School gave a concert in the Public Hall list Thursday night, in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. Th 6 hall was crowded to the doors with a very appreciative audience, and encores were the order of the evening. Mr W Gubb occupied the chair. The greatest praise is due to the staff, Mr Graham, and the Misses Fenton, Worthington and McNally, tor the training of the children, who excelled themselves. About £l4 was raised, and as the expense! were not very heavy a substantial turn will be placed to the credit ot the fund. The following was the programme rendered:—National Anthem, by children; duet, Misses Graham; "Ten Little Nigger Boys"; marching song; recitation, Miss E Fatton; fairy song and representation of the seasons by the girls; sash dance; speech by tin chairman; duet, Misßes Graham; oranges and lemons: coon song; recitation Miss E Fatton; flag drill; speech, Mr A M Costsin; Christmas song; boy's drill, goad night song; "Tipperary."
The school has had a very ■uccessfui year and the results, as Ufual, have been excellent. The teaching staff are to be congratulated on the efficiency of the pupils. The tone ot the school is very high, and discipline is maintained both at school and away from >*• Peop'e have remarked on the good behaivour of the pupils when going to and from school. At the examinations held recently four pupils were sent up for the proflcency certificate. Three of them, B Roberts, F Carr and E Graham, passed proficiency, and L Lapwood passed for competency. The roll number will be augmented by i number of new pupils after the holidays.
