VALEDICTORY.
In connection with the forthcoming departure of the Yicar of Pukekohe (Rev. F. B. Do* l son) from Pukekohe to Paeroa, Mrs Dobson was farewelled at "Puketaha" the residence of Mrs Jack Russell, oa Friday last, by past and present members of the St. Andrew's Ladies' Guild, of which she has been President for a number of years. After the ordinary business of the Guild had been transacted, Mrs J. B. Btowd, an ex vice president, was called upon to make the presentation of a handsome handbag and card case to Mrs Dobs >n. She said that in doing so she had two duties to perform, one a sad one, to wish Mrs Dobson farewell, and the other a pleasant one, to ask her acceptance of this small token of the love and esteem in which she was held by all of them. They would she said, not readily forget her thoughtf ulness and many kindnesses. In accepting the gifts Mrs Dobson stated that the times spent at the Guild meetings would always be pleasant memories to her, and she would follow with interest the doings of the Guild, and hoped that they would extend to Mrs Oowie, her successor, the same courteousness and help she had always enjoyed. The delightful and varied dainties provided by the hostess, Mrs Russell, for the afternoon tea were quite a feature of the afternoon.
A little diversion in the proceedings were songs by Mrs J. Wjlie, "Somewhere a Voice is Calling"; Mrs I. Motion, "Goodbye"; Mrs Russell, "The Gift"; all of which were greatly enjoyed. Those present included the Rev. Dobson, Mesdames Dobson, Dell, Lawson, W. Adams, J. Adams, R. Brownlee, Hubbard, J. Wylie, J. Schlaepfer, Baker, J. R. Mcßae, Penny, senr., I. Motion, Hart, Turbott, Wilson, N. F. Barker, J B. Brown, J. Russell, R. Bilkey, Robt. Wilkinson, A. E. Wilkinton, and Mioses Fausett and Hamlin.
At a meeting of the parishioners, held on Saturday night and presided over by Mr H. G. B Mason, it was decided to accord the Bev. and Mrs Dobson a public farewell at a social gathering to be held ia a fortnight's time and to make them a presentation. A committee was set up to organise arrangements for the function.
