"OFF TO THE FRONT."
SOLDI EES' FAREWELLED. There was a large gathering at the Masonic Hall, on Friday evening last, when Messrs. J. O'Malley, Joe Adams, George Blake, N. Lucas and Ridling, all of Pukekohe, who entrain at Pukekohe this evening for Trentham Camp, were tendered a public send-off.
The function, which took the form of a "smoking" concert, was presided over by the Mayor, Mr H. G. R. Mason, who handed to each of the departing soldiers a silver wristlot watch, stating that the same were small tokens of the appreciation in which they were held. Each of the recipients suitably responded. Songs were rendered by Messrs. J. O'Mallv, .1. Hanks, L. Wilson and W. T, Jones. The accompaniments were capably played by C. Rickett, who together with Mr H. V. Grubble was responsible for tho excellent arrangements A lengthly toast list was also gone through and the company did not separate until nearly midnight,
