» Laat Thursday evening closed the decries of weekly socials held in the local hall in connection with the Queen Carnival in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, for which thereby a substantial sum nf money hai been rased. !h?re was a too:! attendance aid dancing was indulged in by ihe young folk, ti st class music beirg supplied by the foil wing, viz., Mrs Ferguson, Mrs Sttvienn, Mr sera Reul, W. Howard, W. Phil ipn. 0. W. Pit >(1.11 and M. Irwin. Oi the (tag; tables were arrowed when the noi-trance, s amused • themselves with various gamer, such aa cards, draughts, etc. Meters W. Howard '"id Roy Moore acted aa M.C.'s and krpt tha dincing going with » ewiig. During the interlude! songs were sung bv Miss Muir, Aka Aka, and Mr Irwic. The aupper room • waa nicely decorated with greenery and Mowers and looked very pleasing to the eye, with tha tables well Bupr lied with a splendid display if eatable'. Mrs Zinzen and Miss V. Wright were in charge of the room and provided the. refreshments lor the evening, The ladies who supplied the refreshments tor the thee previous socials were Mrs Kishton and Mis* Knight, Mrs E. 0. Cuff and-Miss V. Bailey, Mrs J. Henry and Miss M. Finlav. i On Monday last Mirs Florence bailey and Miss Knight gave a very pleasant evening in the hall to raise funds in aid of their stall for the bazaar. Dancing, songs and games were engaged in and good music was supplied by several local players. A dainty* supper was provided by the hrsts, and' about 454 wai collected, together with several parcels of material, which will go a good way towards furnishing the stall. During an interval a song was rendered by Mrs Hawke, of Pukekobe. Arrangements are well in hand for the bazaar in connection with the Queen Carnival, whicb is to be held in the local hall on Thursday and Friday next. It is the desire of the committee that every resident of the district should show their patriotism and appreciation of the good oar boys are rendering our country by putting in their appearance to make the gathering a financial success.
