To provide a fund for the purpose of defraying tin cost of improvements to the Presbyterian Church, a concert held in the Hall on Morday evering last served in a most satisfactory manner to accomplish thq d"Bire»l result. A large attendance wai pr sent. The Rev. Miller very ably outlin"d, in an interesting speech, tfce life cf lan McLaren, an item that was very much appreciated. The programme of musical items was of a meritorious order, the contributing performers beirg: Songs, Messrs Goodbfhere, Hicks ani the Rev. R. Miller, Mrs Irvi-e and Mirs J. Kearney; pianofoite duet, the Misses Walden; flute solo, Mr Hall; reKdi'g, Rev A Miller. The performers were thanked for their efforts. A few r<matks by the Rev. Kearney and the singing ot AuM Lang rfyne, foil wed bj the National Anthem, brought the tunc'ion to a successful i sue.
