PUKEKOHE NATIONAL RESERVE.

Annual Meeting.

There was a large attendance in Messrs Buckland and boos' Horse Bazaar on Tuesday night last, when tbe annual meetina of the Pukekohe National Reserve was Held. Mr C. K. Lawrie presided, and. submitted the annual report, which claimed that the Reserve had justified its institution, and although only in existence six months, the membership had increased from 40 to 90. There were some members, however, woo did not take an interest in the movement and the attendances at drills were accordingly not as representative as they might have been. Ihere were, on the other band, several' very enthusiastic members who regularly attended the drills. The reserve had held three public functions, which were largely attended. Two members, Messrs Stan Shipherd and F. Marshall, bad left for the front, and Mr W. J. Bowden bad been accepted the Committee's congratulations were extended to those membeis and a hope was expressed that they would return to Pukekohe safe and sound. Captain Rollinson and SergeantMajor Short were thanked for the services they bad rendered. Had it not been for their assistance, it was stated, the Reserve would not have been able to carry on. Captain Rolinson was congratulated on being appointed to tbe commend of the Reserve. Reference was also made of the services rendered by Mr C. Roadley, the Reserve's exsecretary.

Mr Lawrie, commenting on tbe report, said that it would be for tbe benefit of the young men, who intended going to the. front, to join the Reserve, and it would also be tbe means of assisting the Reserve. Mr Grigor presented the balance sheet showing a credit of One shilling. Both the report and the balance sheet were adopted. It was decided, on the proposal of Mr A. 0. Woollett, to postpone the question of affiliation for consideration until the Government's attitude in reference to the Reserve was made known. After the matter had been considered at some length, it was unanimously agreed to donate the sum of £26, subscribed by the Reserve, to assist the .Southern Queen. The money is to be forwarded to Hamilton for that purpose.

It was decided to record on the minutes an acknowledgment of the services rcndtred to the Reserve by Commander Rollinson and AssistantCommander Sbort.

It was agreed that the matter of arranging drill days should be left to toe commanding officers. Tbe next drill was fixed for Tuesday evening next.

The election of officers for the ensuirg year resulted as follow*] viz.:—President, Mr C. K. Lawrie; vice-president, Mr R. .'. Webster; committee, Messrs W. H. fiawke, Smith, Hurley, Lindsev and Deane; treasurer, Mr Grigor; secretary, Mr A. 0. Woollett; auditor, Mr Gundy.
