AKA AKA DRAINAGE BOARD.
Monthly Meeting. The adjourned regular monthly meeting of the above authority was held on Fiiday. Present: Messrs G. G. Hull, chairman, J. N. Massey, S. P. Henry, F. J. Bregman, E. Bent, together with the clerk, Mr W. J. King. MISCELLANEOUS
Mr Brrgman mentioned tbe matter of the drain leading from Bogue's corner to Mr Hoskings property, stating that it was in urgent need of beicg cleaned.—it was decided that tbe water grass impeding the How of water in the drain should be cleared out.
The clerk reported that Mr Good- ( win was anxiius for that portion of the Western drain, in front of his property, to be deepened.—The matter was discussed, but without , any definite action being taken. Tbe question of whether tbe Board should provide Mr G. Currie with pipes for a proposed outlet from his property on ths Eastern Drain road to lead into the Eastern draio came in for consider* ation as a result uf the chairman's statement that Mr Currie was anxious for the Bard to provide him-with tbe necessary pipes. -It was pointed out that the pipes would havet to be laid across tha road, as the drain wa9 situated on I the opposite side of the road to that on which Mr Currie's property was.—The clerk pointed out that before the pipes could be laid | across the road, the permission of < the Franklin County Council would j hrst have to be .obtained and further, that the Board sanction to run an ou let into the drain would be necessary.—lt was decided that Mr Currie shiuld be written and informed tint the B:ard did not provide outlets to main drains, | and that if owners ot property desired outlets they would have to make them themselves. Mr Bregman considered it necessary that the drain under tbe White Bridge should be cleaned.— 'I he chairman supported the suggestion, and proposed that the work should be put in hand.—Agreed to. After a lengthy discussion on the working of flood gates in the j Board's drains, Messrs Bregman and Henry were deputed to inspect those m tbe Eastern drain with a view of lemoving any obstructions that might have been interfering with ' tbe gates, and, further, to adjust tbe gates. The clerk was instructed to notify Mr T. Douglas that as it ( was the intention ot the Board to ' enlarge the outlet to the Eastern Drain, it would be necessary that he should remove the pip: b on the | outlet at the entrance to his property aod in place thereof to utect a wooden culvert. ACCOUNTS. The following accounts were passed for payment:—lnterest on loan, £lB of Watson, £3 18s i)d; R. McWatt, £2 18s Id; the clerk, £3 6s 8d; Powell, 10s.
