MERCER.
At the Mercer S.M., Court yesterday, before Mr Frszer, S.M., ordLrs for payment, in deffcult three dava' and eight days' imprisonment respectively, were made in the following judgment summons cases, viz. : Mefsrs Wallace and Co., storekeepers, Pokeno, v. C. Parder, a native labourer, rv»i ins; at fuaku', for £2 10a 6d, acd the same v. L. H. rush, a railway clerk, who had previously rerided at Pokeno, but is now stationed in Auckland, for £7 lis Id.
Constable Bevan, who is on annual leave, is beng relieved by ConstaNe G. Clist, of the Auckland poli e still. Tte latter will lemain it Mercer until trn end of the mor.th, when Constable Bevan retires from the ssrvice *nd duty will then be taken up by Constable Horan, who has been transferred from Wellsford to fill the Mercer vacancy.
The storage accommodation provided by the Railway Department on the Mercer wharf is the cause of much complaint hy those who have occasion to use it. The shed constantly of late has been taxed to its utmost capacity, the result being that goods have to lay on the wharf, sometimes for several days, and in that case if the consignor uses the Department's tarpaulins to protect the goods in wet weather he is charged for the same by the Department.
A start will be made as soon as the flood in the liver recedes, to erect a commodious up-to-date goods store on a site at the northern end of the wharf for the reception of goods arriving via rail for transhipment to the steameis of the Waikatu All-British Shipping Company's fleet for delivery to points on the Waikato river. The timber for the foundations is already on toe scene.
