OPAHEKEROAD BOARD. The ordinary monthly meeti !g of ths Board was held on Siiturday, October 2nd. Mr M. Whlan presided over the meeting, and Messrs W. Dunn, T. A. Alexander, Jas. McKay and P. Dunn were the other present. REPORTS, The reports un works in hand were tirst dealt with. Mr Alexander btated that trouble had arisen on tha soft road to Drury, owing to culverts becoming blocked, acd be bad had the repairs of the Bame put in hand. The chairman reported that he had visited Mr M. roid, findng the bridge coniolaincd uf quite useless in iti present state. He added lhat u land elip had occurred, making the road dangerously narrow on a short portion. He advised thit the repair* c.uld be b«st effected bv day woik.—On Mr McKay's motion, Mr Whelan was empowered to deal with the work.

Continuing his report, the chairman stated that he had interviewed Mr S. Nobbs regarding the purchase of a small portion of bis property -about, half an acre—for Un purpose of giving a public road outlet to section 208, owned by Mr Wm. Barker, Mr Nobis had agreed to sell Un portion uf the lind in question for the sum of £5, which the chairman considerrd to be very reasonable. —Mr Alexander moved that the road be undertaken. The chairman seconded the [motion, .and thu same was carried. A ROAD DEVIATION.

Mr J. Hawks waited on the Board to report progress in his negotiations with his neighbour (owner of section J998) regarding a contribution towrds the cost of fencing the load deviation he (Mr Hawke) had asked for. He stated that he could not get any definite reply in the matter, and was not prepared to undertake all the fencing himself. The chairman mentioned that he had visited the site of the proposed deviation, and would rot recommend the Board to undertake the work, as it would be necessary to twist about in the shape of the let'er S to gtt anything near a decent grade, and it was questionable whether the owner of section 156 wuuld allow his property to be cut up in that manner. He considered that the Board would have to face the difficulty of getting a new stringer 32 feet in length, and repairing the bridge.

Mr W. Dunn moved that the bridge be repair d. Mr McKav seconded the m 'ton, and it was carried. AN APPLICATION REJECTED. Mr A. Harris wrote asking the Boadr to provide some culvert pipes and tu do some excavation work on the new road leading to his property. Mr McKay proposed, and Mr W. Dunn seconded, that the request be acceded to.

V Mr Alexander moved an amendment that Mr Harris' letter be returned and thi request refused, on the ground that the Board were already liable tor a big sum tf expenditure on the road, and that Mr Harris should wait for a more favourable opportunity to make his request. The chairman seconded the amendment, which was carried, Mesars P. Dunn, T. A. Alexander and the chairman voting for, and Messrs J. McKay and W. Dunn againit. TENDERS. Two tenders were received for the road formation work on Donnellcy's road, at Maketu, viz , Mr J. Donnelley, £1 4s per chain; and Messrs Kern and Watson, 18* per chain. —Mr Alexander moved that Mesirs Kern and Watson's tender be accepted. Mr W.. Dunn seconded the motion which was earned. For formation work on Stewait's road—Only one tender was received for ttis contract, i.e., Messrs Kern and Watson, at £1 2s per chiin, and the same was accepted. MISCELLANEOUS.

Mr W. Dunn stated that some bridge decking was urgently re quired on Kiddle's road, and the Board unanimously decided to empower Mr Dunn to git the necessary material. Mr Alexander moved that tenders be called for some formation work to be done on Perry'« road, at Rama Kama. The chairman seconded the motion, which was agreed to. ACCOUNTS. Bills for labour and ma'erial to the amount ot £23 16s were received, and passed for payment.
