KARAKA.

The new bridge over the Wbangamaire, between Papakura and Karaka, has been completed and is now open for vehicular traffic. The structure will shorten the distance to the Papakura railway station by about eight miles. The first to travel over tbe new bridge was Mr J. Schlaepfer, accompanied by Mrs and Miss batty, wife and daughter of tbe cbairmau of the Karaka Road Board. Mr Batty has not yet received a reply to the Board's invitation from the Premier relative to the opening of the bridge. It has been suggested that owing to the benefit which is likely to accrue to the Papakura business people, the opening ceremonv should be celebrated by a half-holiday.
