PAPAKURA.

Jee also paje I. The sale by auction, under the UlaEgow lease system, on behalf of the Church of England Diocesan Society, of 15 one-quarter acre sections, situated on the Great South road, Papakura, took place on the property on Saturday, Messrs Roberc Carr and Sons, of Auckland, being tha auctioneers. All the sections found buyers, prices ranging from £3 103 to £6 10a per annum. Seven sections were knocked down to Mr Entrican, land agent, Auckland, three to Mr Arthur Richardson, Papakura; two to Mr Hardi«, Papakura; and one each to Messrs Pruden and Ward, Papakura, and Mr L. C. A. Potter, Pukekobe. The leases are for 21 years with a light of renewal every 21 years thereafter. In the evening Mr Hardie sold his two sections, Nos. 1 an? 2, for which he paid £5 each, at a profit. During the afternoon tha freehold of three cottages, of three rooms each, on quarter-acre sections, were offered for sale on behalf of Mr William Richardson, but as the highest bids were only £l4O each, and the reserve was £2OO, they were passed in. It is understood that as a result of requests made to hinj by several electors there is every probability that Mr Ewen D. McLellan will be a candidate for the vacancy which will arise on the Town Board when the present chairman, Mr A. Willis, retires in November. A deputation is to wait on Mr Mc-L-llan at a future date in connection with his proposed candidature. '■ On Sunday last Bishop Aveiill visited the district and conducted the morning service in Chrißtq Church, Papakura, and in the afternoon officiated at a confirmation service at Drury. He conducted a further service in the evening at Clevedon.

Seveial fowl roosts ia tbe district have recently received attention from nocturnal visitirs, who bave in each caso secured good bags. In one instance six well-bred members of tbe feathered trite were missing from thiir usual haunts in the morning. For Bmart up to-datc dressmaking, guaranteed to give satisfaction, ladies should patronise Miss Cullingtoo, dressmaker and costumier, of the Economic Drapery, Papakura. See qdvt. in this issue.
