TROOPS' WAISTCOAT FUND. | A concert, promoted by the Ladies' Committee of the Patriotic League was held in the Tuakau Hall on Wednesday last. There was a large attendance, and the sum of £8 8s was taken at the door. The object of the concert was the provision of funds for supplying waistcoats for the troops at the Dardanelles. The proceeds of the concert will be forwarded to Auckland for this purpose, together with the money donated for the purchase of 51. The following contributed to the programme:— Piano solo, Miss F. Dickens; songs, Mr Ryder, Mr Kaedy, Mrß Hunter; recitations, Mieß Ina Deeble. Miss Constance Free, Mr Revell; musical monolgue, Mr Currie; sword dance, Miss Winsoifie Moncur. Refreshments were provided by tbe ladies. After the concert a dance was held. The guessing competition which was to have been held fell through for lack of competitors, and the prizes will be held over for a future occasion. A Ked Cross tea will be held in the ball on Thursday afternoon next, September 16th, when a collection will be taken in aid of Red Cross Woik funds.
