FRANKLIN'S ROLL OF HONOUR.
Several names of late residents of tbe Franklin district appear in the most recent lists ot casualties sustained in the Dardanelles operations.
Mr Fredk. William Lucas, son of Mr Frcdk. Lucas, of Puni, is among the killed. He was serving with the Auckland Mounted Rifles and also took part in the Sooth African campaign. Another of Mr Lucas' sons is also with the Forces at Galhpoli. Mr James McNaughton (next of kin: Mr Joe McNaughton, of Waiuku) and Mr Norman Olsen (next of kin: Mr 0. Olsen, of Buckland) are also among the killed. Both were attached to the Auckland Mounted Rifles.
Among those reported missing are
Mr C. 0. Johansen (next of kin: Mr C. M. Johansen, uf Orua Bay, Awhitu) and Mr C. Wilson (of Fatumaboe). B'arner Joe Wilson, who i 3 reported to have be?n admitted to tbe Government Hospital, Alexandria, suffering from pneumonia and pericarditis, saw active service in South Africa with the Seventh Coniingent, under the lat? Colonel Bauchop and Major Grant. He was one ol the famed flying column, that was after de Wet. 'He was eventually wounded, and was invalded home He enlisted tor service id the present war with the second reinforcements, and was with the landing party at the Dardanelles. >Je must have been there f«r at Ichsl three and a-half month?.
