POKENO.

On Friday last the usual fortnightly social was held in the Pokeno Hall. There waß a good attendance. The prizes for euchre were won as fallows:—Lady's first, Miss J. Gordon; lady's second, Mrs Billings. Men's Hist, Mr P. McLennao; men's second, Mr C. O'Leary. During the dance which followed, Mr T. Hicks presented Mr A. Bates, on behalf of Ihc Social Club, with a wristlet watch, aa a small tuken of esteem lor the good work that Mr Hates had done as a member of the Club. Mr Bates, who ia leaving the district for active service, suitably acknowledged the gift. The next parade of the Farmers' Union Kifle Club is to be held tomorrow (Thursday) in the Pokeno Hall, at 7.30 p.m. [Continued on Page 4.]
