WAIUKU NEWS.

Amongst the visitors to Waiuku for the wetk end was Mr A. Hanna, the well-known Auokland aolicitor. Waiuku 'on an ordinary week day —and Waiuku on a Saturday are altogether, in appearance, different placet. At the week end the people from the country crowd into the township, Fand show their appreciation ot local industry by patronising the local placea of business. Last Saturday was nn exception to the rule, but next week the town is promised an additional influx, aj the men working on the railway are going to have their Saturday half-holiday in Waiuku. Wf are indebted to Mr Donald Campbell for the following information:— "The rainfall durirg July a« registered at "Belle Vue,"/ Victoria Avenue, Waiuku:—Rain fell on fourteen days. The fall for each twenty-fout hours ending at 9 а.m. each day varied from 0.1 to 2.48 inches. The total fall was б.98 inch:s." That goods "picked up" do not bel'ing to the person who "finds" them was pointed out at the sitting uf the Waiuku Police Court yesterday by one of the presiding justices Mr J. McGsvin. He showed that, technically, it was as much a tbift as taking anythirg out ot a man's bedroom, and the proper thing for a "finder" to do was to take the article to the police, who would find the owner. A lecture on missionary work in v the East, given in the Parish Hall on Monday night by the Kev. Kimberley, was well attended, the Kev. J. Fu&sell being in the chair. The rev. gentleman's address was well appreciated, and the lantern views with which it was illustrated provft) very intereetiijg. A collection in aid of the mission was taken up, and tho gatherirg concluded with a hearty vote of thanks to the lectuier.
