DRURY.
An entertainment of interest aid merit was given by the Papukura Opera Club in the Drjry Hall on Monday last, when the operetta entitled "Princess Chrysanthemum,' in which a caite of over forty performers took part, vrai staged, and performed before a large and aporeciative audience. Tin dresses of the ladies were dreams of beauty, and many ot them were works of art, inasmuch as they were hand-painted. The staging and general items connected with t h e production of tha operetta were carried out in a clever and tatisfactory manner, and al'ogether the play was an oasis in the desert of concert monotony. The chief characters were in very capable hands, viz.: Princess Chrysanthemum, Miss Kita Wilson; Emperor What for-Wby, Mies Westwood; Maid? of Honour, Misses Scott, I. Wilson, A. Bullen and A. Wilson; Fairy Moonbeam, Miss Cooper; Princfc So True, Mr L. McKinatry; Prince So Sly, Miss rJ. Johnston; Saucer Eyes the Cat, Miss Anderson; Emperor's attendant, Mr dice. The leaser personages on the caste also all did well. The company intended to donate twenty-five per cent of the proceeds to the Drury School, but the School Committee, being in a sound financial position, expressed a wish to have the amount paid over to the Ladies' Ked Cross Guild. This will be done, and judging from the well-filled hall a fair amount should be available for that good cause.
