TUAKAU
BAND CONCERT. The i'ukckohe "lown Band, together with (several other performers, journeyed to Tuakau on Wednesday evening of last week and cave a performance in the local hall. Unfortunately the weather was against a large attendance, but those who were present were more than delighted with the entertainment provided. Various items were rendered by the Band, under the able conductorship ot Mr U. Brunnette, bandmaster. Other contributors to the programme were.—Mrs I'ilkington, Miss Bagnali, Messrs J. T. iiewson, J. O'Malley and Brunnette (sjngß) and H. V. Cribble (recitation). Miss Towngon acted as accompanist and Mr Monty Wright ably carried out the duties of stage manager.
The death occurred at his residence in Avondale on Saturday last of Mr Thomas Elliott who was actively associated with the early days of Tuakau and district. The deceased gentleman, who was 83 years of age, was one of the pioneers of this district and resided far somo considerable time at Harrisvilie, removing to Auckland some sevsn or eight years ago.
